Stepping Back without Moving Backwards - September 2023 Dev Update
what are we making, exactly?
It’s officially crunch time on CURIO. I’ve spent the last few weeks putting in more hours than ever (not like, an obsessive amount, but we’re definitely in part-time-job hours by now). There’s a clear goal in sight, the rough animation is all done, and for a while all that’s stood in my way is the 120+ cleanup drawings for the final shot. Each drawing takes about 40-60 minutes, so there’s been a lot of work to do. Animating has become a numbers game - how many hours do I show up? How many drawings can I finish each day? On some level it’s nice to have such a clear goal despite such a large obstacle, and to some extent the process is mathematical. Is the drawing “on model?” (looks like Kosperry’s design) Does the drawing feel like Don Bluth could have made it? If so, it’s done, move on, queue up the next drawing.
